Healthy Living Pharmacy had a problem. They needed a user friendly website for their pharmacy that allowed their customers to securely order & transfer prescriptions online.

Case Study: Healthy Living Pharmacy

Medical Web Design and Development

Responsibilities:

UI Development, Content Creation, CSS/XHTML Template, jQuery , 256-bit SSL Certificate

Simple, yet Sophisticated.

The UI and Navigation for Healthy Living Pharmacy was a very important factor in creating a User-Friendly, Accessible Website. I started by determining the most important elements of the website, and created a “Secondary” Navigation (below the header).

“Secondary Navigation

navigation

I really wanted the main elements of the website to stand out to the user; Order & Refill, Products & Services, Frequently Asked, Testimonials.

The larger text, descriptions, mouseover effects and navigation bar allows for ease of use; a simple navigation that even the least experienced user could understand.

On the child pages of the website, I decided to keep the “Secondary” Navigation bar, but didn’t include the descriptions, to allow for more real estate above the fold (“the fold” means the line beyond which a user must scroll to see more contents of a page).

You will notice that depending on your location, the corresponding navigation item is highlighted, to  let users know where they currently are while navigating the website.

Secure Prescription Ordering & Transfer

To allow users to order and transfer prescriptions online was very important to Healthy Living Pharmacy. I decided to go with Tectite’s Form Handler , their encryption/decryption software, and I also secured the Ordering Page with a 256-bit SSL Certificate.

jQuery Vertical Scroller

I thought the vertical scroller was a great solution to showcase the company’s strong points and service information. It is featured on both the Home Page, and Child Page. To break up the two design concepts, I choose to put the vertical scroller on the right side of the homepage, and on the left for the child page.

Contact Page with Google Maps

I provided the user with an interactive Google Map which allows them to enter there address and receive driving instructions either to or from , search for establishmentsnearby, and zoom in on the map.

Final Results

An easy to use, inviting, and secure website built using the latest web technologies and trends. I created complete, and intuitive user experience that Healthy Living Pharmacy’s users will be able to have for years to come.

WriteMaps Site Map Application

Web designers and developers use different techniques to create, share and discuss the sitemap of a website with their prospective or current clients.  Most of the time these techniques involve expensive diagram software, or office application ( which I used to use to create my sitemaps ). I knew there had to be a better way.

The solution that I found was an application by Scott Jehl called WriteMaps.

WriteMaps

WriteMaps is a free online application used to create, edit and then share your sitemap’s with your clients.
